Kinda sounds like what happened to my buddies car. Then he tore out all the gears trying to drive it. The TOB whined like a b*tch. We put a new trans in and the TOB stopped whining and shifted fine.

1) this clutch is no more than 7 months old
2) im not buying a new car
3) every gear still engages and the car still moves
4) i dont care if it grinds between gears, but the clutch not disengaging and the fact that the car wants to stall out if its in gear, stopped, with the clutch pushed to the floor is a major problem
5) everytime i start the car now, it sounds the the starter is losing contact with the flywheel ring gear, and when it does throw over it makes an AWFUL screech.

Remove the damper, replace throwout bearing, slave and master. Drain fluid and fill using 1 part syncromesh.

Change the pilot bushing / bearing too. It could be slowing down the input shaft.

i was bout to say the flywheel might be falling off... its happened before... honestly before you do any more damage i would take off the tranny check everything and put new fluids in replace slave/ CMC etc...

transmission is off the car and disassembled. and it would seem that the center carrier bearing for the main shaft has fucked up, thats the only thing that we could figure out. none of the gears have damage, none of the syncros look trashed. the gearset actually looks quite pristine. but in neutral there is a lot of drag on the shafts when rotated. and in reverse the transmission wants to bind up really bad (all forward gears rotate freely)

the flywheel does not appear to be falling off, neither does the pressure plate. everything is still torqued down. also the clutch disc isnt fucked up at all and the pressure plate fingers are all there and none are bent.

i dont have the money for a new master & slave and all that. im getting a free flawless transmission tomorrow so im not too worried about it. as far as the TOB goes, it seems to be in pretty good condition as well, no binding in it at all.

i have determined that the cause of the transmission failure was probably due to 1 of 2 things, if not both. 1) welded diff, period. 2) running on a tire that was about flat for an extended period of time (i was trying to get to the gas station to put air in the damn thing)

DO THE PILOT BEARING
for what reason? it was already replaced when the clutch was replaced.

Because if your trans was compromised and loose it could have damaged the bushing / bearing. A bad bushing/bearing will cause the input shaft not to spin freely and cause wear to the transmission. It's a 10 dollar part.

gotcha. ill look into that tomorrow. my current financial situation doesnt really support me grenading a transmission. i have to get by with what i can right now. and since i have YET to sell any of the parts i have accumulated, im kinda fucked.
