I'm planning my build, and a relatively cheap one at that (just got engaged and getting married next year). How can I get there? Looking at the stock specs of the RB25, I don't think I would need to upgrade the fuel system (given 370cc injectors). I know the turbo needs to be upgraded as well as some sort of ecu. Therefore, are there any turbos that are direct fit replacement for the RB25? What about ecu choices? I was going to use a Vipec drop in ecu, but at $1500, it is out of the budget. Anyone here do a maf to map conversion as well? Thanks, Jeremy |

you wouldnt need a new turbo... just a boost controller, AT THE VERY LEAST an SAFC, better cooling system, and someone who knows a little about tuning. Stock RB25s are beast. And why go to map sensor? You could switch if you have an safc or F/IC. I have a stand alone and I am switching to map sensor. you also need an air intake temp sensor if your switching over. Thanks for the response. From my research, I understand, the stock turbo sucks. It will blow up because of the ceramic blades. As for switching to map, I've had positive experience with it in my Supra. Additionally, I hear the maf of the RB sucks (maybe swithc to a 300zx one?) The standalone is not a problem as my Supra was tuned by myself and a friend (in fact all the work on my car was done my yours truly, a couple friends, and beers :)). I currently have a Koyo radiator and electric fans (need to look up the brand). It seems to work fairly well. Jeremy |

CX Racing GT28 is a direct drop in replacement for the RB20 and 25 its good for ~300whp. SAFC for sure. boost controller. 15psi. FMIC. Radiator and e-fans. full exhaust. and youre good. |

really? direct drop in, as to no need for new intercooler piping? That sounds promising. The less work the better. I'm still a little weary of this oil pump issue I keep reading about... EDIT... is CXRacing a good brand? Their stuff is really really cheap Edited by marshallpre1, May 8 2010, 07:38 PM.

CXracing was a cheap company, but their moving up in the world. They have dyno proven results of rb25's and rb20's making 300+ whp on their gt28 turbos. reliably. |

yea stock rb25's are powerful motors you can probably get where you want with a nice tune, SAFC, fmic kit and even a turbo if your not comfortable about the ceramic turbo... Rb's are very resposnsice motors and can be very reliable.. ask matt 89s13 his makes 2 hour car drives and complete out of state moves.. |

greg is right, my RB made a 9 and a half hour trip from NC to Indiana last month. just stay on top of your maintenance. RB25s cannot be boosted as high in stock form as a RB20 just due to the higher compression ratio but they do have a higher baseline horsepower than a RB20 too. Read This Some info i wrote up about the RB swaps. |

How good is the RB25 ecu? One thing I'm worried about is that with an SAFC, I don't really have control of timing. Will the ecu knock down timing once it sees knock? Jeremy |
