It depends what you're making it out of. You can find some mild for pretty cheap, as well as SS, from jegs, summit, etc. That way you can choose where it is, how low it hangs, the angle, pipe size, muffler....you get the point |

And also if you want a cheap one look at ebay ones, there pretty much the same as the expensive ones |

do you plan on boosting this car ever? how good are you with a welder since you are making your own. I've made my own exhaust a few times and if you have a super low car its not just stick a pipe on and throw a few hangers on it you are going to have to make bends and shit to get it to fit. what style exhaust do you want? I just told a dude on an other forum about the Apex i worldsport II its pretty rad has a good sound and doesnt drone on the highway |

I'm sure he realized that part, it's really not all that hard if you can weld and got half a brain you can do it |

i wasent orginaly thinking about making my own. ive welded once and it looked shitty so i wont to that. i realy like Apexi products but i dotn reealy want to spend 700 on exaust at the moment. but i love the sound and looks of them i want to go boost but the relaity of that is that it prob wont happen for about a year. so i was thinking about a 2-3" straight pipe ex. buddy club spec II i dont want to cheap out but i dont need a greddy Ti exaust thats 1200$ |

well see here's the thing why not hold off on the exhaust for a while since its not going to do anything for you other than sound different until you have more money? and don't spend the money on something halfassed from ebay thats going to fit like shit. wait a while get a good exhaust that will work well with a turbo'd motor and only have to buy it once. |

ive also thought about that lol cause thats a very very good point. but wouldent a straight pipe be good for turbo and/or NA? |

Dont get straight pipe there loud, annoying, and youll get pulled over. And I disagree with you dan. There is no point in spending more then 500 on a exhaust when you can buy the samething on ebay. Just make sure it fits before you buy it |

Too big of a diameter pipe on a NA will hurt your performance. That and the wrong sized headers can do more then you think, in a bad way. For turbo, you want it as least restrictive as you can |

It's not really going to do much for NA unless you do a bunch to the motor. It will however be loud as fucking hell. the reason a turbo car isn't as loud with a straight pipe is the turbo acts as its own muffler so you could get away with a straight pipe alittle easier with a turbo car over NA. but seriously dude do it right the first time and save your money. you are already on a budget why get parts you don't need just for the fact of getting it? look at my corolla for example yeah it looks like crap but its got a good motor good coilovers good suspention a good diff and a good seat. everything else doesn't matter and I'm not going to get things until I need them. I have big brakes for it but I don't need them yet so the rest of the parts are still on the shelf. |
