Trans- Im installing my transmission (finally) and I lifted in in to place, slid it in and rotated it to the right position but right before it gets lined up it stops. The bolt holes are misaligned by about 1/2 to a 1 inch. I need to turn it counter clockwise another inch but it will stop because Im hitting something but I can turn it clockwise with no problem. Theres nothing on the outside stoping it so it must be on the inside, but I dont know what it can be. And it was in neutral the whole time btw.

Brake- Along time ago my bros pass side rear bleader valve wouldnt come off so he took my cailper. Last week I was bord and I got it off, so we decided to rebuild it. Now my bro finished rebuilding it yesterday but the piston wont retract into the cailper, so were stumped why it wont go in because we replaced all the seals and gaskets.

Put the trans in neutral? or turn the crank clockwise only. What are you using for pushing in the piston?

If you under the car and you need to spin the trans counter, then you could do the opposite and spins the crank clockwise. Now you cant spin the crank counter clock wise, it can cause issues.

So you can move the input shaft of the trans by hand?

It spins great on the ground because it is rebuilt. So I have to spin it all the 359* because its bad to spin it counter clock wise?

The transmission input shaft is only designed to spin one way. Motors don't spin the other way to reverse. But that comment was in regards to the motor. You never turn a motor in the opposite direction of how its designed. Timing chain / belt have more tension on onside then another and that movement can cause jump. Also with that slack on the other side your rotating the crank on an interference motor if the stars are aligned correctly and there is that great a slack you can kiss valves.

So yeah you can rotate the trans clockwise so install it in a way that will allow you to do so.

Well I lifted the front of the engine from the crank pully so I cant spin it and its aleady in I just have to match up the bolt holes and bolt it up.

sounds like your hitting the dowel pins on the block, pull the trans out a little bit line the bolt holes up and slide the trans back in.

Also check to see that the dowd pins arent in the trans and the motor..

when i was putting mine on i realized my new motor had the dowd pin in the Motor and in the trans in the same spot.

wow this is why you kids amaze me everyday when I look at this forum. You would think that when you clean the bellhousing and lube the throw-out bearing sleeve you would notice that there was a pin stuck in the bellhousing and Go OH that belongs in the block lets fix that. B)
