Ok I have a s14 ka and the bottom end sucks so I want to do some kind of cam swap. I liked my brothers s13 but some people are saying the 248/232 is the best but others say it seems the best because you lose hp. Your also supposed to move it 2.5 teeth forward or something but I dont get that, anyone care to elaborate? |

You have to allign the cams and when using an exhaust cam as an intake cam the OE marking for the exhaust does not match the intake so there is a difference with teeth, (I seem to recall 4). As for best cam, is this for NA, or boost? and if the bottom end is trash why are you doing a cam swap? |

I think he means low end power and that's not gonna change with the cam swap sorry |

No boost and by bottom end I meant the powerband |

I think there is a confusion of bottom end (bottom half of the motor aka short block) vs low end torque |

I read when you switch the cams around it changed the powerband. And my bros s13 pulled alot harder under 4.5k and mine starts to move above 4.5k |

Larger throttle body, tune, and higher ratio diff gear would yield a better result. |

It does to a certain degree. Generally, you'd be upgrading the RPM range of the cam, so it would widen the powerband and give you more high-end power. That's why Nick was complaining his car felt like a Honda with the BC cams.

unless you are building the motor, I wouldn't worry about doing cams. Even under a boosted application from stock to 400hp is still a waste of time and money. |

i know when i had stock cams in my s13 with my t25 i would fall flat on its face around 5k, so i did the 248/232 swap and now it doesnt fall on its face as early, more around high 5k to 6ish |
